Where Our Westfield Drywall Crew Works
From a cracked hallway ceiling to a dented stairwell wall, our crew takes on drywall problems in Westfield homes and throughout the surrounding area. We favor a solid patch whenever it will last. When new board is the better call, you see the damage and hear our reasoning before any work begins.

Where We Work
Most of our jobs are in Westfield, Garwood, Cranford and Scotch Plains, and we regularly head out to Summit, Union, Roselle, Linden and Rahway as well. Plainfield and North Plainfield are on our regular route too. If you are a homeowner with one cracked ceiling or a landlord with several units that need patching, the work is handled the same way in every town.
On every visit we look at the damage first, then give you a straight answer on repair or replacement. We protect floors and furniture, keep a clean work area while we cut, patch and sand, and match the existing texture so the repair blends into the wall. If you want to know more about a specific job, our Drywall Repair, Ceiling Repair and Drywall Patching pages go into the details.

What We See in Homes Around Here
Older plaster and early drywall
Many homes in this part of New Jersey were built before modern drywall became standard, so we often find plaster over lath, or plaster walls that were later patched with drywall. Plaster cracks can usually be stabilized and repaired instead of torn out. We only suggest replacing a section when the plaster has come loose from the lath across a wide area.
Cracks and popped fasteners
Wood framing takes on moisture during sticky summer months and gives it back once the heat comes on in winter. Over a few years that back-and-forth opens hairline cracks at corners, lifts tape along seams and pushes screws or nails out through the paint. These are small fixes. We reset the fastener, re-tape the seam if needed, and finish it so it disappears after a paint touch-up.
Water stains on ceilings
A leak from an upstairs bathroom or an ice dam in winter can leave a brown ring or a soft, sagging spot overhead. Once the source is fixed and the area is dry, a stain on solid board often just needs sealing and refinishing. If the drywall has softened or crumbles when pressed, we cut out the damaged piece and patch in new board.
Permits and building rules
Patching holes, fixing cracks and refinishing walls generally does not need a permit in this area. Larger jobs, such as hanging new drywall after walls are opened up, can fall under local building department rules that vary from town to town. We will talk through what applies to your project before we schedule it. Condo and rental buildings may also have their own rules about work hours, and we plan around them.
